Glycine: Essential component of collagen
Glycine is an important component of all proteins and an important metabolite. It is especially common in collagen, the most abundant protein in the organism. Here, glycine accounts for about one third of all amino acids and allows the collagen to be wound up into its triple helix structure. This dense winding results in the enormous tensile strength and low elasticity of cartilage, tendons and ligaments of our musculoskeletal system.
The skin, the most versatile organ of the organism
The skin represents the most functionally versatile organ of the human organism. It protects our body against environmental influences and helps us to compensate for temperature fluctuations due to its enormous adaptability. Since the skin is the visible part of our body, it is primarily used for representation and communication. Collagen is also the most important protein for the skin, which ultimately cares for the elasticity of the skin. Collagen is also characterised by the fact that it is excellent at storing water and thereby plumping up, smoothing and firming the skin. The role of Collagen as “water reservoir” is also due to its triple helix structure (every third amino acid is glycine).
Glycine, the especially valuable amino acid
Glycine represents the central interface between protein, carbohydrate and lipid metabolism. As proteinogenic, i. g. protein-producing amino acid, glycine is found in all proteins of the body. It is In fact the most abundant amino acid to be found in proteins. Furthermore, glycine is a precursor of the body-formed glutathione, which is essential both as an antioxidant and as concerns detoxification functions.
Take care of not becoming deficient!
A poor absorption of nutrients can lead to glycine deficiency, while it may also happen in the case of malnutrition or in the context of an eating disorder. A deficiency can also occur as a result of a general amino acid deficiency. 100g of meat contain about 1000mg of glycine. This amount is also included in just 2 capsules of ZeinPharma® glycine.
The glycine capsules of ZeinPharma® are also produced without animal ingredients and are thus also suitable for vegetarians and vegans. You will also for sure soon appreciate the diverse and positive effects of the new ZeinPharma® dietary supplement.
