The essential vitamin B12
The vitamin B12 takes over numerous functions in your body! Therefore, it must be ensured that the sufficient daily requirement is covered. Vitamin B12 naturally occurs in foods.
However, absorbable vitamin B12 is found only in animal products - especially the heart, liver or kidney. But also eggs and milk contain B12. Vegetable foods contain vitamin B12 only in small quantities. Accordingly, especially vegetarians and vegans are at risk of inadequate vitamin B12 supply. When preparing food, part of the vitamin B12 is usually lost from the diet.
Immediate effect - B12 as lozenges
Make sure that the vitamin B12 you consume is really available to your body! The bioavailability of vitamin B12 via the oral mucosa is particularly high. If free vitamin B12 - such as methylcobalamin - taken orally, it can be quickly absorbed and used through the oral mucosa. Therefore, it is more beneficial to take the vitamin through the mouth!
B12 in capsule form only slightly available
Bioavailability tells you how well your body can absorb nutrients. Among other things, this is decisive, which are supplied to the body and how the organism can use this.
Vitamin B12 is very well absorbed through the oral mucosa. The other way - intake through the gut - is much harder. As a result, only a small amount of B12 is really absorbed when taken in capsule or tablet form. Absorption via the gastrointestinal tract may be passive by diffusion processes or actively by means of transport proteins “intrinsic factor”.
The "intrinsic factor" is a very special transport protein that is formed in the stomach. However, the intrinsic factor is only produced in limited quantities, which is why vitamin B12 is only really absorbed in small quantities. It is estimated that only about 1.5 μg vitamin B12 per meal can be absorbed via the intrinsic factor.
Vitamin B12 deficiency
Vitamin B12 deficiency symptoms usually appear only years after the actual deficiency prevailed. A deficiency of vitamin B12 is shown at the beginning mainly in general fatigue symptoms. For example:
•Limited efficiency or too
Who has an increased need?
Vital instead of exhausted and tired!
Do you often feel exhausted or tired? Vitamin B12 helps normalise your energy metabolism! This reduces tiredness and fatigue as well as exhaustion.
Among other things, this effect is based on the fact that vitamin B12 contributes to the normal formation of red blood cells. The red blood cells - erythrocytes - are known to transport oxygen in the body. In the lungs, you "load" oxygen and transport it into the tissue.
For sure you know the phenomenon: if you are in a stifling room you quickly become tired and unfocused, since your brain lacks oxygen. Every cell in the body needs oxygen for its normal metabolism. With the vitamin B12 lozenges you can reduce fatigue and exhaustion!
Important for the immune and nervous system
In order for your immune system to work properly and effectively combat pathogens, it also requires vitamin B12 in addition to other vital substances.
In addition, it supports the nervous system. The body needs the substance to make myelin sheaths that surround the nerves. Only then can the neurons be protected and their function maintained. The case can be thought of as the isolation of electrical cables. Once the protective cover is damaged, the nerves no longer transmit their received signals. In addition, the substance helps to regenerate nerves. This underlines the important role of vitamin B12 in the nervous system.
Vitamin B12 for normal cell division
Your body is made up of trillions of cells. Many of these cells are regularly renewed, killing older cells and forming new cells. Cells that are newly formed include, for example:
• liver cells on average about 1 to 2 times a year
• the skin cells about every 2 months
• the red blood cells approximately every 120 days
• or the intestinal cells even every few days.
Vitamin B12 plays a role in this regeneration of cells. Together with folic acid, the "cell vitamin" is involved in the formation of DNA - the genetic material. This ensures a normal process of cell division.
